Comments: In 1946 at the age of 9 I was transported by US Navy LST (number unknown) from Tsingtao (now Qingdao)to Shanghai. I would like to know which LST it was. For the record this was a "mercy trip" conducted by US Government to remove Europians from harms way, Communist invasion was iminent.

Comments: Thank you so much for this website my name is Peter Mangin and Felix Mangin who served on LST 794 was my grandfather. He past away when I was very young and I never really knew about his service in WWII. My father Robert Mangin served in the U.S Army and I just recently recieved my discharge from the Marine Corps. My Father passed away when I got home from Iraq so I never got to ask him the questions that I wish I would have cared about when I was younger. I can't tell you how thankful I am to have this information about my grandfather and now I can put a story behind the purple heart that is displayed next to both my father and grandfathers military funeral honours flags in my home. Thank you again!

Crewmember? Father was on LST 794 and LCT 1392
From: St. Peters, Mo.
Comments: My father Millard Bogard Redman is pictured in the initiation pit in the photo labeled "spraying crew". He is the taller man, he was about age 34 at the time with wife and two daughter at home in St. Louis, Mo. Sometime after the invasion of Okinawa my father returned home, and spent over a year at the Jefferson Barracks Hospital in St. Louis recovering from ailments, possibly poison water, not sure about that and he suffered with jungle rot the rest of his life. He died on Aug 31, 1971, he was 61 years of age. Wish I could have known more about his war days but he did not talk much about it. Would appreciate any information about him that you are your members may have or recollect.
