Comments: | I served in the USMC during world War 11. We went directly into combat from San Diego to the Marshal Islands (Roi & Namur . We were aboard an LST the entire voyage Later on we were board a coast guard manned LST enroute to Iwo Jima Where we went ashore in "Ducks". I admired the crew of this LST for the friendly atmosphere they created and the sharing of the gun tubs during GQ. s |

Comments: | Was fascinated that there would be a web site devoted to an LST. I lived on the LST880, the Lake County, from March 1955 toAugust 1957. We were at the time working on a secret operation.....installation of a new navigational system known as LORACWe worked with Western Electric and I wouldn"t trade those years spent on that ship for anything. It was a wonderful time in my life from age 18 to 20! Certainly a growth and maturing experienceThanks for your website |

Comments: | Enjoyed your site very much. I came across it while looking for info on the 43 division. My friend and former mailman may have been on an LST at one point. He was involved in the landings at New Georgia, Rendova, and Lingayen Gulf. He was in the infantry. I think he was mostly on the LCI"s and Higgens boats. Again, thanks for visiting your site. Born in 44 I missed this action, but feel our younger people need to know what went on there, and what they owe to the folks who served. Thanks, Harold |

Comments: | I spent many a day aboard the LST"s and the LSD"s in the Soulth China Seas. It"s been 33 years but I still remember it as though it was only yesterday. I know the sites and smells and the sounds and lonelyness it brought. I know a little of what Mr. William Stewart MacMinn Went through. My salute goes out to Mr. William Stewart MacMinn. Thank You... |
